Progress on My bit.ly App

I’ve put some work into my bit.ly application (I’m calling it Bit Pile for now), and I’ve got some screenshots from it to show. It still needs some work, but most of the functionality is there. I’d like to add mass import and export at some point, but those functions haven’t made their way in yet. Here’s the first shot (I’ll get to the others after the break).

I’ve got most of the features I wanted working though, just as a quick rundown here are the main ones (off the top of my head):

  • Shorten URLs with bit.ly (sort of the obvious one).
  • Show thumbnails and total clicks for each shortened address
  • Add already shortened addresses to be tracked
  • Track where clicks are coming from from all sites
  • Look at individual sites, grab the long URLs, and small, medium and full-size images

Here’s a quick look at the overall stats for some sites I dropped in:

And finally a quick shot of the screen for an individual site. It gives links to some great features of bit.ly that you might miss otherwise. You can link to all the thumbnail captures, the mirror site (a capture of the site at the time the URL was shortened), and of course the full URL.

That’s about the size of it at the moment. I’m pretty happy with things so far. I’d like to add a few more things, but first I need to know what it needs the most. So would anyone like a test run? I’ve only got one tester other than myself at the moment (thanks Dirk!), so any extra eyes on it would be great. Just drop me a line or a comment and I’ll be happy to send you the link to the file. I’ve got auto-update in place so you’ll be able to get updates as I release them without much effort. I hope it’s useful to someone out there, I’ve just enjoyed making it.
